Your First Visit

Your First Visit

We are excited to meet you and are honoured that you have chosen our practice for your dental needs. We will work to earn your trust and hope you will feel comfortable referring your friends and family here.

To help your first visit run smoothly please arrive 15 minutes early to provide adequate time to fill out all the necessary forms, such as medical history and consent forms. Also, you can assist us by providing the following information prior to your initial appointment:

  • Dental insurance information. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims
  • A list of medications you are presently taking
  • The name and address of your previous dentist so we can obtain any pertinent information or X-rays
  • X-rays if you have them (and are less than one year old)

Your first visit will be a time for you to meet the doctor and communicate your dental goals and needs. With your permission, we will gather the information we need to make recommendations that are appropriate for you. This time may include a review of your health history, intra- and extra-oral exam, oral cancer screening, dental and periodontal charting, any necessary x-rays, scaling (cleaning), polishing, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instructions, and consultation with the doctor.

An extensive medical history or complex dental issues may require further evaluation and a second appointment to thoroughly review conditions and treatment options. Also, if you have not had a deep scaling in some time, more than one appointment may be required to complete your scaling.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern, i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc., or if you are on any medication i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, bisphosphonates, etc.

If you need to reschedule your appointment, please provide us with a 48-hour notice. Again, we are excited to meet you and welcome you to your dental home!
